The
LASSIE System (Large Array of Sound Sensors Indicating
Excitation)
LASSIE
is a breakthrough product from Seagrave
Instruments, the first of its kind to make the invisible
world of Room Modes easy to see. The LASSIE System is made up of the Model 49 and the optional Model 25. Multiple systems may be combined for large venues.

Sound Sensors
Each sound sensor is in a plastic enclosure containing a miniature electret microphone, amplifier circuitry, a replaceable
9 V battery, and a 10 mm white LED. Responsive to sound pressures levels from 70 to 94 dB SPL, each sound sensor has a magnetic panel built into its base that holds it to the magnetic base and completes the circuit. When testing is complete, simply remove the sound sensor from the magnetic base, and power is removed.

Webcam
This 1.3 megapixel webcam features a high quality glass lens, adjustable focus and a built-in microphone. Device drivers and video capture software are included on the accompanying CD. A 6 ft. (1.83 m) USB extension cable is also provided.

USB Flash Drive
This 1 GB USB flash drive contains the Image Analysis Software, Tone Generator Software, a 2- and 3-D plotting application called 3DField, and the LASSIE manual. There is also plenty of storage space for your webcam videos.

Image Analysis Software
Here is a screen shot of the Image Analysis Software display. From
a video recording of the array of sound sensors taken during a frequency
sweep, the software extracts position and amplitude
information, and displays sound pressure level (SPL)
as a graphical representation, and produces a table
of data that may be plotted with the 3DField Software. The Image Analysis Software supports up to a 15 x 15 array.

|
 |
Tone Generator Software
This program generates pink noise, fixed or swept tones, up to 99,999 seconds long. You can store presets and it can be used with almost any sound hardware. It runs on any laptop or desk PC that has sound output.
|
|
 |
3DField Software: 2-D View
This is program plots up to 50 points, perfect for the 49 points of the Model 49 Sensor Kit. It produces two- and three-dimensional plots with fully adjustable contours, scaling, colors, and axis labeling. If you need to plot more points, you can purchase a full system.
